ANKARA - Speaking at the debate on the 2020 Budget, HDP co-chairs Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli renewed their call for early elections.
HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan spoke at the budget meeting in the General Assembly and said: “June is hope, June is courage. June is success and victory” calling for an early election.
HDP co-chair Sezai Temelli added: “For those who think about the democratic future of this country, it is time to implement the Democratic Constitution and build the Democratic Republic, and therefore to vote no to the budget.”
Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli were speaking in the General Assembly at the 2020 Central Budget Proposal session.
Buldan reminded that “between 2009 and 2012, some 10,000 Kurdish politicians were arrested. Since 2015, - she added - the number of HDP people in custody is around 15,000 plus 5 thousand already jailed. So, what changed? The state of lawlessness directed against Kurds, social opposition and those who struggle for democracy continues through the OHAL regime declared after the July 15 coup attempt.”
After Buldan it was the turn of Temelli to speak about the 2020 budget that he described as a “poverty” budget. Temelli said: “When you look at the budget of 2020, you see the lack of peace and social peace. When you look at this budget, you will see the pillage of common wealth, total poverty. When you look at this budget you will see the lack of democracy. We do not accept the 2020 Central Government Budget and the mentality behind it.”
