İSTANBUL - Journalists, reacting to the arrest of journalists Sadiye Eser, Sadık Topaloğlu and Hacı Yusuf Topaloğlu and demanding their immediate release, stated that they will continue to write the truth.
Free Press workers made a press release in front of Humans' Rights Association (İHD) İstanbul branch in reaction to the arrest of Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporters Sadiye Eser and Sadık Topaloğlu and Hacı Yusuf Topaloğlu, a reporter of Dicle News Agency (DİHA) which was closed down with a decree of law.
Mesopotamia Agency reporter Erdoğan Alayumat, stating that these arrests are a message to the free press workers and that they are wanted to be silenced, said: "We follow the path of the people like Apê Musa. We were never silenced. We will continue to write the truth and bring the facts to the public. This is our responsibility to the public."
Taylan Öztaş from Özgür Gelecek (Free Future) who read the statement on behalf of the free press workers vowed that the free press workers will never abandon the streets. Öztaş said: "Free press workers who were targeted by bombs yesterday, are today wanted to be silenced with arrests and investigations.We will continue to persue and write the truth. We will continue to write about Saturday Mothers, the destroyed Sur, Hasankeyf, the masculine judiciary, the children who died under armoured vehicles. We will continue to write, to tell these stories. We will not get tired or bored. We will continue to do journalism and defend our colleagues and profession. Our arrested collegues must be released immediately."
