ANKARA - KESK Central Executive Board commented on the re-run of the Istanbul elections and said that the heavy defeat of the regime candidate has shaken the one-man regime.

 

 

The Central Executive Committee of the Confederation of Public Workers' Unions (KESK) issued a statement on the Istanbul elections, which were done again on 23 June, after being canceled on 31 March.

 

For the AKP-MHP regime, said KESK, "it would not be that easy to reign now".

 

The trade union said that the Istanbul elections were lived by people as if they were a general election.

 

Stating that the most important message to emerge from the 23 June elections was the victory against the fear empire and the fact that victory can achieved fighting together. 

 

“A very important determination emerged on 23 June. The single-man regime has been shaken, but it will want to continue all kinds of illegality in order not to be destroyed. It will continue to carry out its neo-liberal policies which undermine the workers and the oppressed who are paying the bill of the economic crisis.

 

From now on, we will continue to cultivate hope based on the struggle, we will continue to stand against oppression and the one-man regime, to defend trade union rights and freedoms and to fight for a democratic, free, equal and secular country. The future will be even more beautiful. "
