The IAEA confirmed that Israel had targeted uranium enrichment facilities in Iran and stated that the situation was "deeply concerning".

 

It reported that the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was not targeted in the Israeli attacks on Iran and that no increase in radiation levels was observed in the targeted Natanz Nuclear Facility. According to posts on the IAEA’s X virtual media account, Director General Rafael Mariona Grossi noted that Iranian officials reported that the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was not targeted and that no increase in radiation levels was observed at the targeted Natanz facility after the Israeli attacks on the country. 

 

 

While attending a session of the IAEA board of governors in Vienna this week, agency Director General Rafael Grossi said on the agency's X account, "The IAEA is closely monitoring the extremely worrying situation in Iran. We can confirm that the Natanz facility is among those being targeted.”

 

"The Agency is in contact with the Iranian authorities regarding radiation levels. We are also in contact with our inspectors in the country. Iranian authorities have informed the IAEA that the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was not targeted and that no increase in radiation levels was observed at the Natanz site," Rafael Grossi said.

 

Grossi emphasised that the IAEA is closely following the "deeply concerning" in Iran and said, "The IAEA can confirm that the Natanz facility is among the targets. The IAEA is in contact with Iranian authorities on radiation levels. We are also in contact with our inspectors in the country." He stated that in additional contacts with Iranian officials, it was also confirmed that the Isfahan Nuclear Facility was not affected.

Iranian State Television also announced that "Natanz nuclear facility was hit but there was no leakage".
