NEWS CENTER - Ekrem İmamoğlu was ordered to be arrested due to "corruption" allegation.
The testimonies of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and 91 people who were detained on 19 March within the scope of investigations against IBB ended at the prosecutor's and judge's offices. Imamoglu made his defence on both files. Imamoglu, whose testimonies to the judge was completed at early in the morning, said, "These slanders will hit the walls in the bosom of our nation and return back."
It was claimed that Imamoglu was arrested within the scope of the "corruption" investigation. Anadolu Agency reported at 10.06 local time that Ekrem Imamoglu, IBB Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu was arrested within the scope of a "corruption" investigation.
TRT, on the other hand, shared on its virtual media account at 10.08 local time that Ekrem İmamoğlu was arrested.
STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sources denied the news that Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu was arrested from the "corruption" investigation. The Istanbul Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor said, "There are still news that he is arrested, these news are considered to harm the investigation, I warn you agan, do not rely on anything other then my statement."
In a statement made to DW Turkish, İmamoglu's lawyers also reported that there was no decision, including the corruption investigation decision, that was notified to them.
ARREST DECISION FROM THE JUDGE
The judgeship announced its decision on Imamoglu. Imamoglu was arrested on the allegation of "corruption". The request for Imamoglu's arrest within the scope of the "urban consensus" investigation was rejected.
