Call to the 'No way to trustees' rally: It's time to expand the united struggle

ISTANBUL - Labor, Peace and Democracy Forces called for the "No way to trustees" rally and said: "The day is from Hakkari to Istanbul; It is the day to expand the united struggle of the oppressed and exploited."

Istanbul Labor, Peace and Democracy Forces held a press conference against the appointment of a trustee to the Colemêrg (Hakkari-Kurdistan) Municipality for the rally they will hold in Kartal Square on June 29 with the motto "We Will Not Allow a Trustee for Our Labor and Freedom". A banner saying "We will not allow trustees to pass for our labor and freedom" was hung at the meeting held in a hotel in Beyoğlu district. Details about the rally were announced at the meeting attended by representatives of unions, political parties, institutions and organizations.

Ayşegül Devecioğlu, member of the Union for Democracy (DİB) Coordination Board, who read the press text, stated that one of the main reasons for political instability, poverty, inequality and violation of rights and freedoms in Turkey is dependence on the capitalist-imperialist system and capital.

'WAR HAS BEEN DECLARED AGAINST ALL THE OPPRESSED'

Emphasizing that AKP-MHP is under the command of the capitalist order, Devecioğlu stated that this order has waged a relentless war on all the oppressed. Underlining that the AKP-MHP regime was defeated in the 31 March local elections, Devecioğlu said: ""The AKP-MHP regime, which was defeated in the March 31 local elections, is trying to turn the situation to its advantage with its attacks on all oppressed and marginalized segments of society, oppressed peoples and beliefs, laborers, retirees, women, youth, children, LGBTI+ people and nature."

GEZİ AND KOBANÊ CASES

Devecioğlu continued her words as follows: “Out of fear of the rising anger of millions who are groaning under the open capital-power attack defined as the high cost of living, they closed Taksim on May 1 and arrested those who protested the decision; With the Gezi and Kobanê Conspiracy cases, they wanted to prevent the people's struggle for democracy and freedom by using violence. Since the regime knows very well that it cannot produce consent with the 'Mehmet Şimşek Program', which can be summarized as taking from the people and giving it to capital, it is trying to surround and intimidate the society with its reactionary education curriculum, bans and pressures in every field, and trustee policies.

TRUSTEE COUP

As seen in its hypocrisy towards the genocide in Palestine, the last move of the government's effort to strengthen its regime internally in return for pure loyalty to imperialism is the trustee coup against the Hakkari municipality. Arresting the elected co-mayor Mehmet Sıddık Akış by instrumentalizing the judiciary, appointing trustees instead of electing representatives from the municipal council as is practiced in Western municipalities, is not recognizing the democratic will of the people. By breaking the democratic will of the people with the trustee regime, the AKP-MHP alliance is trying to break the democratic will of all the oppressed and the opposition in Turkey and support its dirty regime. Therefore, trustee means usurpation, trustee means plunder, trustee means corruption, theft, and not recognizing the will of the people. The trustee is also a blow to the country's hope of living in prosperity and peace with the government's deadlock and war policies.

THE TRUSTEE HAS NO LEGITIMACY

What is not fair has no legitimacy. Therefore, the Hakkari trustee has no legitimacy in the eyes of society. The ruling bloc, which even shelved the September 12 coup constitution, while 'managing' the process in the West under the name of 'New Constitution, Détente', wants to create a 'Kurdish normal' that completely eliminates the right of the Kurds to vote and be elected with the third trustee period. Those who state that they 'respect' the local election results are shamelessly ignoring the will of the voters when it comes to the DEM Party. We have always resisted and will continue to resist these attacks, which are not legitimate and illegal even according to our own law!

WE WILL NOT REMAIN SILENT

To the civilian-looking coupist mentality that wants to isolate and liquidate the political values and achievements of the Kurds; We have not and will not remain silent against the robber, plundering mentality and attacks that want to take away the right to humane life of the people of Turkey. We will remove those who want to mortgage the political will of the people from Hakkari municipality by resisting, uniting and sharing, just like in Van! The will is ours, the life is ours, the resistance is ours... We will not give way to those who covet our labor and freedom, and those who ignore the will of the people with the trustee coup.

BIG RALLY ON JUNE 29

Today is the day to organize and raise up light against darkness, goodness against evil. The day is from Hakkari to Istanbul; It is a day to expand the united struggle of the oppressed and exploited. With these feelings and thoughts; We invite all peoples and workers to the rally that we will hold on Saturday, June 29, at 19.00 pm in Kartal Square, with the motto ‘We Will Not Allow a Trustee for Our Labor and Freedom’"
