ŞIRNEX - Although seriously ill prisoner Salih Gün has completed the execution of his 30-year sentence, he has not been released for 2 years due to his refusal to accept the imposition of "regret" and various disciplinary penalties.

A new one is added every day to the human rights violations, oppression and arbitrary practices against prisoners in prisons. Salih Gün, a seriously ill prisoner held in Ankara Sincan High Security Prison No. 2, is not released even though he has completed the execution of his 30-year sentence. Gün, who was arrested in Antalya, where he immigrated from the Qileban (Uludere) district of Şirnex in 1992 due to state pressures, is sentenced to life imprisonment by the State Security Court (DGM) on the charge of "disrupt the unity and territorial integrity of the state". Gün was held in many prisons during his 32-year imprisonment, has many serious diseases, especially diabetes and blood pressure, due to prison conditions. Gün suffers from heart disease, a herniated disc, joint rheumatism and chronic otitis, also struggles with chronic migraine and sinusitis. Gün has 72 percent hearing loss in his right ear, has not been released for 2 years due to different disciplinary penalties given under the name of repentance, although he has completed the execution of a 30-year sentence.

PENALTIES FOR BOOKS

In addition, all applications for the identification of Gün, who was made missing in prison, are left inconclusive. It was stated that Gün is 60 years old and held in a cell despite his progressive illnesses, he could not meet his needs on his own. Finally, it was learned that the books sent to prison by Gün's friends were used as a justification for execution and burning. Gün family stated that the books sent were given to Gün after the review of the Prison Administration and Observation Board, and that the board later imposed a disciplinary penalty on the grounds that the books given were banned.

ARTICLES MADE SUBJECT OF ACCUSATION

Gün's nephew, Cemil Gün, said that his uncle's release has been unlawfully prevented for 2 years and said: "The articles written by my uncle were considered a crime and disciplinary punishment was given. His release is postponed because he does not accept the imposition of remorse. His applications for his identity card, which was lost by the prison, are left inconclusive."

RELEASE POSTPONED FOR TWO YEARS

Stating that his uncle's release was constantly postponed, Gün said that this has now turned into a method of torture and added: “My uncle is old and has illnesses. Even though his sentence is over, he is not released. Under normal circumstances, he must have been released, but he is not. The prison administration has lost his identity, but the same prison administration does not allow my uncle to be taken to the civil registry office and have his fingerprints taken. Since there are no fingerprints, no identification is given. Although the prison administration must have issued his identity card as a solution, he does not do so. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison but has been unlawfully imprison for two years. They use this method to kill people."

SINGLE CELL

Stating that applications for the issuance of the ID card were not accepted, Gün demanded that his uncle be released as soon as possible and continued: “What can a person do after being in prison for 30 years? They have visited dozens of prisons so far. He is already being held under severe isolation. When they take them to the infirmary, they do not record their health problems in the system and report them. He is being held in a solitary cell. This creates problems both materially and spiritually. He had surgery and his eyes are very weak and he has vision problems. His health condition is not good. As his family, we apply for an ID card, but it is not accepted. The prison administration, instead of supporting him, prevents him every time and does not let him go. This person has been living under severe isolation and torture for 32 years. We demand his release as soon as possible.”
