NEWS CENTER - KNK Co-Chair Ahmed Karamus pointed out that the Imralı isolation is a common issue of four parts of Kurdistan and said: "Unless the isolation is abolished, the Kurdish issue cannot be solved on a political basis."
PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who was handed over to Turkey on February 15, 1999, with a conspiracy as the first step of the intervention plan of international forces in the Middle East, has been imprisoned in Imralı High Security Type F Prison for 25 years. There has been no news from Ocalan for 35 months, as he has been held under absolute isolation conditions and has not been allowed to meet with his family and lawyers. While the Kurds showed their reaction against this isolation, which deepened the deadlock in the Kurdish issue, well-known names in the international arena also raised their voice against the isolation with the "Freedom for Ocalan and solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, which they started with their statements in 74 different centres of the world on October 10, 2023.
Political prisoners in prisons have been on a rotating hunger strike since November 27 in support of this campaign, which is approaching its 4th month. The "Great Freedom March", which was launched by two branches, Qers and Wan, on February 1 against the isolation of Ocalan, continues.
Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Co-Chair Ahmed Karamus evaluated the isolation of Ocalan and its impact on the Kurdish issue on the anniversary of the international conspiracy.
'THE CONSPIRACY A WAR CONCEPT AGAINST THE KURDS'
Stating that a war concept is prepared against the Kurds in the person of PKK Leader Ocalan, with the conspiracy of some international powers for 25 years, KNK Co-Chair Ahmed Karamus said: “This concept would start with the international conspiracy and continue with the destruction of the Kurds. They wanted to achieve this step by step by taking the leader of the Kurds into captivity. They aimed to end the historical resistance and struggle of the Kurds."
However, Karamus said that the desired result could not be achieved and emphasized that the decisions taken by the National Security Council (MGK) in 2014 were to deepen the isolation, which was the continuation of the conspiracy.
Noting that this understanding is supported at the international level to some extent, Karamus said: “The Turkish state violates both its own laws and international laws and agreements with the isolation it imposes on political prisoners. The Turkish state does not take into account and violates any internal law or agreement in this way."
THE CONSPIRACY CONTINUES WITH ISOLATION
KNK Co-chair stated that the international conspiracy continues today with the aggravated isolation system. Karamus said: “The concept of isolation is genocide against the Kurds. The lack of negotiations with Mr. Ocalan and the blocking of dialogue and the widespread use of all kinds of isolation on the Kurds show how they have systematized this concept and how they carry it out. The aim is to implement and maintain this concept as desired and commanded. That's why they want to realize this concept by making the isolation worse. Because Mr. Ocalan's paradigm, philosophy and perspective have an impact both on the Middle East and internationally. The purpose of the isolation is to insist on the deadlock of the Kurdish issue and to render the issue ineffective at the political level."
'THEY WANT TO ISOLATE OCALAN'
Stating that the isolation of Ocalan shows that the Turkish state and colonial states have not achieved their goals in their plans for the Middle East, Karamus said: “As long as the issues in Kurdistan and the Middle East are not resolved politically, the state of crisis, chaos and conflict will continue. That's why they don't want to solve the issue. They want to isolate Mr. Ocalan in every way."
Underlining that Ocalan's paradigm now offers solutions not only for the Kurds, but also for issues at the Middle East and international level, Karamus added: “That's why they want to neutralize Mr. Ocalan by disabling him. This idea and paradigm is intended to be forgotten. They make every effort to prevent it from reaching the public. However, the Kurds are insistent and determined to end the isolation of Mr. Ocalan. The Kurds are resisting for this and will continue to resist."
Emphasizing that the Kurds have demands and expectations from Kurdistani parties and organizations in this resistance, Karamus said that they invite everyone to actively participate in the campaigns, actions and activities launched against the isolation as KNK.
'THE UNITING FORCE IS OCALAN'
Emphasizing that every attack against the Kurds is a continuation of the conspiracy and a reflection of isolation, Karamus said: “Isolation policies are part of the understanding of destroying the Kurds. They want to disable the power that will solve the Kurdish issue. That's why the conflict persists and remains unresolved. The existing conflictual situation and state of chaos is gradually expanding. The existing conflicts undoubtedly affect the Kurdish movement in general. Today, the Turkish state is expanding its attacks towards the west and south of Kurdistan to eliminate the gains of the Kurdish movement. Wherever there is a reaction to the occupation, the Turkish state attacks there with its UCAVs, tanks and artillery. The Turkish state is also disintegrating the Kurds. The Turkish state is taking advantage of the contradictions among the Kurds. Again, the occupying states in the region are taking advantage of these internal conflicts. That's why isolation is a common issue of four parts of Kurdistan. That's why we say; The power that will unite us is Mr. Ocalan. If we want peace, we must oppose the isolation imposed on Mr. Ocalan and if we want a solution, we must oppose the isolation. That's why what we all have in common is to stand against isolation, and this is an opportunity for us to unite."
Stating that the state of war and instability in the region can only be resolved through political means, Karamus said: “As KNK, we see the solution to the Kurdish issue in Mr. Ocalan. To break the isolation imposed on Mr. Ocalan, the Kurds must take concrete steps to end the isolation with all their forces and structures. Unless the isolation is abolished, the Kurdish issue will not be solved on a political basis."
'THERE IS A GROUND FOR NEGOTIATION'
Karamus said: “It is time to end the absolute isolation imposed on Mr. Ocalan and resolve the Kurdish issue. There is a basis for solving the Kurdish issue with one voice and for most of the Kurdistani parties to negotiate together on a single line. Although some Kurdish parties are not close to this, we believe that this will happen if the majority of Kurdish and Kurdistan forces reach an agreement. This will have a political impact on all four parts of Kurdistan. In this case, it will have a broader political and diplomatic status in Kurdistan, as well as in the Middle East and internationally. We must all protect our gains by acting in common."
