ANKARA - DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları, who visited the politicians on hunger strike, said: "It is our demand that steps be taken for a solution before the situation in prisons gets worse."

The hunger strike launched in the Ankara Provincial Organization of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) with the motto "Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan and a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue" continues on its 3rd day. Mamak and Etimesgut district organization managers continued today's action. Mothers for Peace, DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatimoğulları and Democratic Student Initiative (DEM-Uni) members attended the action.

Hatimoğulları saluted the hunger strike actions and said: "The isolation on Mr. Ocalan must be abolished immediately, and taking steps for a solution before the situation in prisons gets worse is the demand of all of us."

Drawing attention to the hunger strike started in prisons, Hatimoğulları said: “We do not know how these hunger strikes, which will continue alternately until February 15, will continue afterwards. However, we believe that the political consequences of this important and historical resistance initiated by political hostages before the hunger strike inside turned into a more aggravated situation will be beneficial for the whole society.”

'THE BIGGEST OBSTACLE TO DEMOCRACY'

Stating that there have been wars and conflicts in Turkey for 40 years and therefore no progress has been made in solving the Kurdish issue, Hatimoğulları said: “Today, not only the Kurds, but all the people of Turkey are paying the heavy price for not solving the Kurdish issue through peaceful and democratic methods. We all see that one of the reasons for the severe poverty we experience today is the insistence on war as a product of this dark and evil policy carried out by states to protect their own power, especially the Kurdish issue.”

'TAKE A STEP BEFORE THE SITUATION GETS WORSE’

Hatimoğulları concluded her words as follows:  “We believe that we will succeed all together. The resistance shown by mothers today, their suffering, their insistence on peace and their demands regarding Mr. Ocalan are very meaningful and important. As DEM Party; These demands have been our demands from the very beginning and we believe that we will achieve this by working together. We wish you success, we will win together. A slogan was written called 'Imrali is the address of the solution', it is a very meaningful slogan. The isolation imposed on Mr. Ocalan must be abolished immediately, and it is our demand that steps be taken for a solution before the situation in prisons gets worse."
