ANKARA - Director Sibel Tekin, who was detained and arrested while filming the documentary " "Life That Begins In The Dark" and then released after a lawsuit was filed against her, will be asked at National Security Organization (MİT) whether she "has a connection with the PKK."

The fifth hearing of the case filed against director Sibel Tekin, who was detained and arrested while filming for the documentary "Life That Begins In The Dark" and later released, on the allegation of "being a member of a terror organization" was held at Ankara 26th High Criminal Court.

‘IMAGES CANNOT BE MADE THE SUBJECT OF ACCUSEMENT'

In addition to Sibel Tekin, her lawyers were present at the hearing. The hearing, which started with identification, continued with Tekin's defense. Speaking about the expert report demanded at the previous hearing, Tekin stated that the images and visuals on her computer did not belong to her and  this could not be the subject of accusation.

LAWYER REQUESTED ACQUITTAL

Tekin's lawyer, Mehtap Sakinci Coşkun, stated that the expert report prepared did not reach a conclusion and therefore could be considered as an investigation, not a report. She requested the acquittal of her client, stating that all the belongings in Tekin's house were taken when she was taken into custody, and that the first images examined by the Counter-Terrorism Committee (TEM) at that time were not included in the indictment, and therefore there was no evidence of Tekin's "membership in a terror organisation".

The prosecution also demanded that MIT be asked whether director Tekin had any connection with the PKK.

MIT WILL BE ASKED

The court panel accepted the prosecutor's demand to ask MİT whether Sibel Tekin "has a connection with the PKK" and postponed the hearing on March 5.
