385 women were murdered in one year

AMED - The Socio-Political Field Research Center published its tally of data on violence against women reported in the press between January 1 and December 31, 2023. It was stated that the tally was prepared as a result of data collected from JINNEWS, We Will Stop Femicide Platform (KCDP), Bianet, Mezopotamya Agency, Anıt Sayaç and many local and national press networks.
 
SEXUAL ASSAULT CRIMES
 
In the report, 14.8 percent of the massacres were in Istanbul, 9.1 percent in Izmir, 5.7 percent in Ankara.
34.6 percent of those who were sexually assaulted were in Istanbul, 7.7 percent in Amed, 7.7 percent in Balıkesir.
It was stated that 22.7 percent of crimes against children took place in Istanbul, 9.4 percent in Riha (Urfa) and 9.8 percent in Antalya.
 
385 WOMEN WERE MURDERED IN ONE YEAR
 
According to the report; 39.3 percent of women were exposed to violence. 22 percent were murdered, 17.7 percent lost their lives in suspicious circumstances, and 6.2 percent were threatened. While 3.3 percent were subjected to harassment, 2.6 percent to violence resulting in serious injury, 1.5 percent to sexual assault, the rate of "child abuse" was recorded as 7.3 percent. 
The report stated, "Among the victims, 688 people were subjected to violence/injury, 385 people were murdered, 310 people were subjected to suspicious deaths, 128 people were subjected to child abuse, 109 people were threatened, 57 people were subjected to harassment, 46 people were subjected to serious injuries, and 26 people were subjected to sexual assault."
 
32 PERCENT OF THE PERPETRATORS ARE THEIR SPOUSES
 
The report states that the stage of intimacy of 35.5 percent of the perpetrators was unknown, 32 percent were married men, 7.1 percent were divorced men, 4.7 percent were lovers, and 4.2 percent were men whom they were in the process of divorcing. 
The following information was shared about the numerical distribution of this: "The stage of closeness of 621 perpetrators is unknown, it is stated that 560 people are spouses, 124 people are ex-spouses, 83 people are ex-girlfriends, and 74 people are spouses in the process of divorce."
