KOCAELİ - Green Left Party Kocaeli MP candidate Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu filed a criminal complaint against Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, who called the 14 May elections a "coup".

Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) Kocaeli MP candidate Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu filed a criminal complaint against Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, who described the May 14 elections as a "coup". In his criminal complaint to the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Gergerlioğlu stated that the presidential candidates, political parties and parliamentary candidates who will participate in the elections that will take place on 14 May 2023, with the decisions of the Supreme Election Board (YSK), have been determined. It was noted that these processes were carried out within the framework of the Constitution, its laws and other legal regulations.

In the continuation of the application, the following was stated: “The suspect, who is the Minister of Interior; It has clearly stated that if Recep Tayyip Erdoğan loses the presidency and the AKP and MHP lose their majority in the parliament, he will not recognize the election results regarding the opposition parties that will gain the majority in the parliament and the president other than Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In the face of the fact that the suspect, who is the Minister of Interior, has the police and gendarmerie under his command, since it is obvious that Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and/or AKP and MHP will not recognize the election results if they lose their parliamentary majority, and they will attempt to do so, they attempt to implement the order stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey. Since there will be clearly TCK m. The elements of the crime in 309/1 have been formed.

STATEMENT IN FRONT OF THE COURT

Gergerlioğlu made a statement in front of the courthouse after the criminal complaint. Stating that Soylu was trying to deal a blow to the elections, Gergerlioğlu said: "He has made a mistake, a surprise, to describe the May 14 elections, which were declared within the constitutional framework, as a political coup. These statements are unacceptable. These statements are quite heavy and are a blow to the Constitutional freedoms of 85 million by the Minister of Criminal Affairs. We do not accept this. Look what the Minister of Criminal Affairs said; 'July 15 was a de facto coup attempt, May 14 is a political coup attempt that could create 2023.' Friends, you did not hear wrong. Süleyman Soylu calls the May 14 elections a political coup. It says "political coup" for your vote in the election. Why? They say this because they think they will fall from power.”
