ŞIRNAK - Soldiers and police officers celebrating April 23 with armored vehicles and sirens in Elkê caused condemnations.
 
The April 23 celebration with armored vehicles and sirens in Elkê (Beytüşşebap) district of Şırnak caused condemnations. Hedgehog-type military armored vehicles playing sirens in the empty streets of the city, armored vehicles of the Ural-type police and ford ranger-type vehicles toured the district.
 
There was condemnation from many quarters to the celebration, which resembled the footage of the operation. Botan Cizreli, CHP Şırnak MP candidate, condemned with the words: "Children from Beytüşşebap were exposed to sirens and armored vehicles on April 23... It is not clear whether it was a show of strength, intimidation or Children's Day..."
