URFA - Emin Güler, who was not released in Urfa No. 2 Type T Closed Prison, despite his 94 percent disability report, was not released after his application for suspension of execution was given a report that "he can be held in prison".

 

The condition of the ill convict Emin Güler, who is 94 percent disabled in his right hand and right foot, and held in Urfa No. 2 Type T Penal Institution, whose condition is reflected in the reports of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) and the Human Rights Association (İHD) Riha branches, is getting worse day by day. Güler was also diagnosed with vertigo (balance disorder) and hepatitis C (Jaundice) during his imprisonment. Emin Güler, whose sentence was approved, has been in prison for 6 years despite his serious illness. Güler can no longer meet his basic needs in prison on his own. The application for the "suspending of execution", which we made as his lawyer on September 5, 2022, was rejected with the report "he does not have any illness that will prevent him from staying in prison, he can continue his life in prison" prepared by Urfa Mehmet Akif Inan Training and Research Hospital.

 

69 ILL PRISONERS DIED

 

When we look at the situation of ill prisoners in Turkey, according to the reports of the İHD, there are more than 1,500 ill prisoners, 604 of whom are seriously ill. Prisoners who do not have access to the right to health in prisons and who are ill-treated on their way to and from the hospital continue to die. Again, according to the reports of the İHD, at least 69 prisoners died in prison until October 20, 2022.
