ŞIRNAK - Murat Şen, father of Yahya Şen who lost his life in the chemical weapons attack in Zap, said:"An "immoral" war was being waged and we will apply to the ECtHR against the use of chemicals."

The attacks launched on April 17 against Zap, Metîna and Avaşîn regions of the Federated Kurdistan Region with the partnership of Turkey's Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) have left their 6th month behind. In the process of the attacks, chemical weapons, which are considered crimes against humanity all over the world, were used. It was announced that 17 HPG and YJA-Star members lost their lives due to the use of chemical weapons in August, September and October. It was also published images of 2 HPG members who died after being exposed to chemical weapons.

Yahya Şen (Xemgîn Cizir), who was born in Şırnak, is one of the HPG members who lost their lives as a result of the use of chemical weapons in the Zap region. Şen's father, Murat Şen, who was elected as İdil Municipality Co-Mayor in the March 31, 2019 local elections and was later dismissed, condemned the use of chemical weapons.

AN IMMORAL WAR IS BEING WAGED'

Noting that the Kurdish people pay a great price, father Şen said: "I know that all 17 of them left laughing. They left us smiling and we should be smiling too. We promise that our smiles will continue. An 'intense and immoral war' is being waged. The death of 17 people as a result of chemical weapons is a great pain. I want the whole world to oppose the use of chemical weapons. They must go and investigate the crime scene. Why are the children of these people being slaughtered with chemical weapons? All the trees and forests of Kurdistan have been burned for 6 months. Not a single place has been left where chemicals are not used. But unfortunately, the world is silent and this encourages this brutality. Anyone who uses chemical weapons has neither conscience nor morality. They may show it as a victory, but these young people have been resisting for years and will continue to resist."

'THIS VIOLENCE MUST BE ENDED'

Şen said:"They will apply to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) against the use of chemical weapons. The use of chemical weapons is prohibited and international organisations should investigate the incident. Unfortunately, everyone is watching this. Whatever happens, we will stay on this incident until the end. We will ask for the rights of our children. We will ask until a single drop of blood remains on our bodies. I believe that every single family will approach with this sensitivity. The world powers should not take advantage of the lives of the young people of Kurdistan. Hundreds of families from Bashur (Federated Kurdistan Region) called me and offered their condolences. I call on them too. I have no hope and faith in the national forces. This war brutality should be ended. Our children should not die in immoral war."
