ANKARA - A decision of release has been given for Aysel Tuğluk in Kobané Case, however Tuğluk will remain in prison due to another ongoing trial.

 

The 5th session of the 15th hearing of the Kobané Case where 108 politicians, 21 of whom are currently behind bars are on trial with the accusation of their involvement in the October 6-8 Kobané Protests has been held in Sincan Prison Campus. 

 

In the hearing held yesterday, the court announced its interim decision at midnight. The court ordered the release of Kurdish politician Aysel Tuğluk, who was diagnosed with dementia. The other politicians will remain in prison according to the interim decision.

 

TUĞLUK WILL REMAIN BEHIND BARS

 

The detention of Tuğluk, who was decided to be released for her file in the Kobanê Case, will remain behind bars due to another case. The 10-year prison sentence given to Tuğluk, who has been in prison for 6 years, was approved by the Supreme Court of Appeals. Following the release decision in the Kobanê Case, the way for her release is cleared as the right to probation arises from the DTK file.
