VAN -  Politician Mesud Ebdulxalik, one of the 34 intellectuals who issued a joint statement against Turkey's attacks, stated that Turkey has fallen into the position of invader.

 

The attacks launched by Turkey on the Federated Kurdistan Region on April 23, 2021, got more comprehensive on April 17 with the partnership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP). 34 names in the Federated Kurdistan Region, including writers, journalists and academics, condemned Turkey's attacks and KDP's cooperation in a statement they published on April 19.

 

One of the signatories of the declaration, politician Mesud Ebdulxalik made evaluations about the operation launched by Turkey against the region.

 

'TURKEY WILL NOT ABLE TO GET ANY RESULTS'

 

Emphasizing that Turkey's policy towards the Kurds is no different from Saddam Hussein's, Mesud Ebdulxalik said that Turkey has been carrying out operations against the PKK for years, but that it has not achieved any success so far and will not achieve any results after today. Ebdulxalik said, “The reason why Turkey has not achieved any success against the PKK is that the PKK represents all Kurds in different ideologies and backgrounds. We always say that the Kurdish problem cannot be solved by war. The Kurdish question must be resolved in a democratic way. Turkey should not forget that; Saddam persecuted the Kurds for years, but the world saw how it ended. The rulers of Turkey should implement policies in favor of a democratic solution to the Kurdish problem. Movements that waged guerrilla struggle were never defeated. Therefore, this operation will not be successful."

 

'KDP DAMAGES THE GAINS OF THE KURDS'

 

Expressing that Turkey has become an occupying power among the world states due to its attacks against the PKK, Mesud Ebdulxalik noted that the KDP, which took part in the operation, is damaging the gains of the Kurds. Mesud Ebdulxalik said, “This operation will end in a situation which Turkey harms itself. It is a violation of the airspace of the Iraqi state. This situation is also getting reactions in many countries. That's why Turkey has become an occupying power among world states. Since its establishment, Turkey has wanted to massacre the Kurds. Today, Turkey wants to destroy not only the PKK, but all the Kurds. The KDP and the Barzani family support this massacre by helping Turkey. The KDP has lost its value in the eyes of the Kurds because of it."

 

'KDP'S ATTITUDE IS UNACCEPTABLE'

 

Adding that it is unacceptable for the KDP to support Turkey, Mesud Ebdulxalik called on the Kurds and said: “We see that the Federated Kurdistan administration has not made a statement against Turkey's border violation. KDP secretly supports Turkey because it knows that it will fall out of favor with the Kurds. The Kurds must understand this  well and work to ensure their national unity.”
