SIRNAK - Prisoner Saadet Idin is suffering from unilateral paralysis and has difficulty meeting her daily needs. Her mother, Aliye Idin, demanded her daughter's release and said, "End this persecution."
While demonstrations are held every day in Turkey and the cities of Kurdistan to draw attention to the situation of the ill prisoners, a Justice Watch was initiated by the families for the release of the prisoners. Saadet İdin (35) is one of the seriously ill prisoners in Şırnak Type T Closed Prison. Idin, who worked in the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Women's council before she was arrested, suffers from unilateral paralysis due to an condition she had back in 2018. Idin who was summoned by the Şırnak Police Department to give her statement while her treatment continued, was arrested then and there on the allegation that she was a "member of a terrorist organization".
SHE SUFFERS FROM UNILATERAL PARALYSIS
Idin said, “When she was arrested, she was alone for 40 days. She couldn't have a bath alone, she couldn't wash her clothes for 40 days” and drew attention to her health problems. Expressing that she has difficulty in moving around due to the paralysis, mother Idin said, “I want her to be released. I don't want her to be persecuted anymore, I don't want to be persecuted either."
KEEPING A PARALYSED
Emphasising that it is against the law to keep a paralysed person in prison, Idin said, "She is not being treated. She can not maintain her life alone if someone doesn't accompany her. Not only my daughter, but all the ill prisoners should be released. We visited her at prison the other day. She said the water is not running and that they are given water once a week and it runs weak. Their ward is cold. The authorities should abandon these practices and open the doors of the prisons for ill prisoners."
