ŞIRNAK - HDP MP Hüseyin Kaçmaz said, "The AKP-MHP is practicing hostility under the guise of law," regarding the increasing detentions and arrests in Şırnak and its districts.

In the house raids carried out by the police and gendarmerie in the center and districts of Şırnak in the last 3 months, 160 people were detained, 93 were released, and 67 were arrested by the court. Multiple houses and HDP Cizre District building was raided following the speech Ministry of Interior Süleyman Soylu on December 10. Scores of people were detained. 33 people were detained before the Silopi Dİstrict Organisation Congress on December 11, 24 people were detained before the Uludere District Organisation Congress and 9 people were detained before İdil District Organisation Congress.

THEY ARE AFRAID OF THE PEOPLE

HDP Şırnak MP Hüseyin Kaçmaz reacted to the increasing detentions and arrests. Reminding that hundreds of party members were detained and dozens of them were arrested, Kaçmaz said that a hostile approach was taken towards the public. Stating that the AKP-MHP alliance has introduced a new concept for the last 5-6 years, Kaçmaz said, “When the people of Botan come together with great enthusiasm and morale, the government is afraid of it. They fear the power of the people. That's why they use the concept of constant pressure and detention here. They want suffocate people.

PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED AS A RESULT OF ANONYMOUS WITNESS STATEMENTS

Underlining that everyone detained or arrested recently, were detained or arrested as a result of anonymous witness statements, Kaçmaz said: "This anonymous witness thing is a lie. There are dozens of examples of it. These witnesses are either liars or they don't exist. They have arrested scores of people with this lie. When these anonymous witnesses are summoned to court to give their statement, none of them shows up. Just like the anonymous witness in Demirtaş case. It turned out there was no such witness. Although there is such a definition in law, it cannot be an evidence in itself. It cannot be considered as evidence in law. There are laws, but the state goes beyond these laws. AKP-MHP are practicing their hostility under the guise of law."

'BOTAN IS THE HEART OF RESISTANCE'

Noting that the detentions and arrests were deliberate, Kaçmaz continued: “When we look at history, Botan has an important place for the Kurds. It has always been the heart of resistance and struggle. Botan has been a source of morale and enthusiasm for all Kurds. That's why they fear the Botan region. They try all kinds of ways to break and subdue the will of the people, but the people of Botan has never bowed down and will not. We will strengthen our organisation and protect our will. These people did not pay these heavy prices for nothing. We will continue our fight until the end.”
