HATAY - İsmail Tanboğa, a 22-year-old seriously ill prisoner in Iskenderun T Type Closed Prison, is losing weight every day. Tanboğa's family asked him to be released for treatment.

 

According to the data of the Human Rights Association (İHD) Headquarters 605 seriously 1564 patients are struggling to survive in prisons. One of them is İsmail Tanboğa (22) who was arrested in Iskenderun T Type Closed Prison. Arrested at the age of 16, Tanboğa was sentenced to 4 times aggravated life imprisonment by the local court where he was tried for "violating the unity of the state and the unity of the country" and "deliberately killing".

 

'HE IS DETORIORATING'

 

In the IHD's 2018 sick prisoner report, it is stated that Tanboğa has stomach cancer. Lately, Tanboğa has been detoriorating. It was learned that due to his right to access health being blocked, Tanboğa has been losing weight and he now weighs 39 kilos and he vomits even when he drinks water.Tanboğa's family applied to Human's Rights Association when their request for a referral to the hospital was rejected. Tanboğa is now under quarantine even he tested negative for Covid- 19 and he's scheduled to have an endoscopy after the quarantine.

 

 

'HE VOMITS EVERYTHING'

 

Stating that he hasn't been able to visit his son for a year now, his father Abdullah Tanboğa said his son doesn't give h im information about his health in order not to upset him.  Underlining that his son has stomach cancer, Tanboğa said he vomits everything he swallows. Tanboğa said: "He is now 38 kilos. He can't eat anything. He is not given the food he needs to stay healthy. He used to be an athlete. He got sick in prison. He vomits all the time. We want him treated."
