DİYARBAKIR - Bawer Berşev, Secretariat of the Kurdish Language and Culture Network called for support for the campaign titled "I want education in my mother tongue" on social media to be launched on February 21, International Mother Language Day and told that the target is at least one million signatures.
Bawer Berşev, member of the Kurdish Language and Culture Network Secretariat, gave information about his work on the upcoming February 21st, International Mother Language Day. Berşev announced that they will launch an online petition with the title 'I want education in my mother tongue' on social media platforms for the International Mother Tongue Day and told that the campaign will be shared with all Kurdish organizations and language groups.
Underlining that they aim to reach millions of people with the campaign they will launch internationally, Berşev said: "We will send the signatures to the parliament and say 'This many people demands education in mother tongue.'
KICK OFF ON FEBRUARY 21
Stating that they are also working to make Kurdish an elective course on social media platforms, said this one will be an entirely different campaign. Berşev said: "We have been preparing for this campaign for almost ten days. Our negotiations are still continuing and will continue. This will be an important campaign as it is the first international campaign we launched until now. Because we see the language problem as an important problem at the current stage. As long as we fail to achieve education in mother tongue, we will miss on a lot of things. We will launched the campaing on February 21 and it will continue until May 15, Kurdish Language Day. We will work hard to include as many Kurdish institutions in this campaign as possible. We aim at least a million signatures."
Underlining that the biggest goal of the Kurdish people should be education in the mother tongue, Berşev called on all other peoples, especially the Kurds, to support the campaign.
