DİYARBAKIR – The military blockade in Lice placed after a clash with the soldiers took place on January 9 continues.
During the military operation carried out in the countryside of Çağdaş (Cinezur), Dibek (Derxust), Arıklı (Hiseynik) and Bağlan (Mişref) districts of Diyarbakır's Lice district, one soldier lost his life and 3 soldiers were injured in the clash that took place on January 9.
Following the incident, the enterance to some villages in the vicinity of the area where the clashes took place were blocked and many houses were raided by the soldiers and the villagers were tortured. While Mehmet Şah Bozkuş was arrested on charges of 'being a member of a terrorist organization' with a raid on his home, his wife Azize Bozkuş was released.
Yesterday morning, soldiers made house raids in Dibek (Derxust) neighborhood and citizens named Sıddık Özkan (63), Ferhat Özkan and Ömer Yıldırım were detained. All three names are still in custody.
On the other hand, it was learned that the operation in the rural areas of these settlements ended yesterday. However, although the operation has ended, it was learned that the villages are still under heavy military blockade. Villagers can only enter their villages after General Information Scans (GBT) made by the soldiers.
