MERSİN - Taken into custody with a raid on his home, Osman Şiban was released without his statement taken due to his health condition was not suitable for travel.
Osman Şiban who was taken into custody by soldiers carrying out an operation in the Çatak district of Van on September 11 with Servet Turgut, who lost his life due to being thrown from a helicopter with Osman Şiban, was detained with a raid on his home early this morning. Being detained within the scope of an investigation carried out by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Şiban was taken to Toros State Hopsital for a health check and was released later because his health was not suitable for travel.
Being released, Şiban was taken back to his home. Speaking about the police raid, his brother Haşim Şiban said all enterances to the building was blocked by the police. Stating that his brother was taken to the hospital by an ambulance after a detailed search conducted in their home, Şiban said: "A specialist doctor checked my brother at the hospital and looked at his previous medical reports. He said that my brother could not travel to Van because of his delicate health status and that a committee report was required for allowing such a travel. Counter terrorism unit was informed about his medical decision. Then the prosecutor's office said he should be released and he should be checked by a medical committee later."
'HE LIVES WITH FEAR'
Underlining that his brother has lost his memory, Şiban said: "My brother is traumatized. With raids like this, he experiences that trauma again. He is very scared. He lives with fear."
