ŞENGAL - Stating that they will not accept any agreement made by the governments of the Iraqi and Federated Kurdistan Region PADÊ executive Hisên Hecî said, "Nobody can sit with us unless our demands and will are recognized. Shengal will be defended by Êzidî children."
Reactions against the agreement made by the governments of the Iraqi and Federated Kurdistan Region made on October 9 regarding the reconstruction, administration and security of Shengal continues. The Shengal administration, which did not accept the agreement reached under the supervision of the United Nations (UN) Special Representative for Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, regards this as an external intervention. While the Arab and Turkmen tribes, especially the Yazidis in Shengal, opposed the agreement, Hisên Hecî, one of the central administrators of the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party (PADÊ), said that they would not recognize any agreement or decision that did not recognize the people.
The Yazidis, who were seriously injured by ISIS in the genocide attacks in 2014 lived throught the 74th edict in Shengal. The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) peshmerga, who escaped from the city by not defending the Yazidis at that time, now want to return to Shengal in various ways. The KDP, which has sought to return to Shengal many times before, is now trying to come back by making an agreement with the Iraqi government. However, the Shengalis do not accept this agreement and the KDP's entry into Shengal.
SHENGAL'S DEFENSE
Emphasizing that the people of Shengal and the Ezidî community will not act in line with this decision, Hecî said, "They will not be affiliated with anybody. We have demands. Nobody can sit with us without recognizing these demands and our will. These decisions does not bind us. Ezidî will be the will of th Shengal. Shengal will be defended by the Ezidî children. No more outside power will come and rule over Shengal. As a people, we can defend ourselves politically and in terms of will. The system we have created meets this with all its institutions. This is how we'll respond to the enemies of the Êzidî people. The Êzidî people will make their freedom and just demands according to Iraqi laws. We will have meetings with those who are addressing us. If approached in this way, we can also create a strong channel and communication between Baghdad and Shengal. Other than that, no decision binds us."
