KARS - A large number of people, including Mayor Şevin Alaca and Provincial Co-chair Cengiz Anlı, were detained during the operation against HDP members in Kars.
Police raided the homes of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and municipal administrators early in the morning in Kars. Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Kars Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the house of Co-Mayor Şevin Alaca and HDP Provincial Co-Chair Cengiz Anlı was also raided. Many people including Alaca and Anlı were handcuffed and detained while the police stormed the houses. It was learned that warrants were issued for 19 people.
It was learned that the HDP members who are accused of being 'members of an illegal organization', were taken to Provincial Security Directorate.

The names of the detainees are as follows: Kars Municipality Co-mayor Şevin Alaca, HDP Provincial Co-chair Cengiz Anlı, Deputy Mayor Muazzez Çağrıtekinci, Fahrettin Kaya, Kaya Naki, Suat Bayhan, Hamit Taşdelen, Reis Baykız, Zorba Başkurtlu, Bülent Ağbaba, Şengül Erkmen, journalist Sevda Manduz .
SEARCH AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING AND THE HDP BUILDING
Both the municipal building and the HDP Provincial Organization Building were simultaneously raided by the police. Police are searching both place. It was also stated that the workplaces of some detainees are also being searched.
OPERATION AFTER BILGEN'S RESIGNATION
Kars Municipality Co-Mayor Ayhan Bilgen was taken into custody on September 24 within the scope of the "Kobanê investigation" opened 6 years later and the people of the city reacted to the arrest of Bilgen. Bilgen, who is still in custody and is expected to be taken to the courthouse today, announced his resignation yesterday, stating that he was past the age to play the game of democracy. The fact that there was an operation today, right after Bilgen's resignation attracted attention.
