AMED - DBP Amed Provincial Co-chair Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz emphasized that the Imrali isolation should be lifted first in order to ensure a democratic environment.

The isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, turned into absolute lack of communication after 2015. There has been no news from Abdullah Öcalan and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş, who are held in İmralı, for 33 months. Against this situation, a campaign "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" was launched worldwide. Amed(Diyarbakır) is one of the places where actions and activities continue within the scope of the campaign. Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Amed Provincial Co-Chair Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz evaluated the isolation and the campaign.

'THE ISOLATION MUST BE LIFTED'

Underlining that the isolation imposed in İmralı continues to deepen, Gürbüz said: "A "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign is being carried out against the insistence on the lack of a solution to the Kurdish issue. One part of this campaign continues with the rotating hunger strikes initiated in prisons. The Justice Sit-in initiated in cities is also within the scope of the campaign. The isolation must be lifted in order to initiate a democratic process. A competitive solution for human dignity, democratic environment, must be provided."

'WE WILL CONTINUE THE FIGHT'

Noting that the voices of prisoners in prison who supported the campaign with hunger strikes should be heard, Gürbüz said: “Periodical rotating hunger strike actions may turn into a death fast after February 15. We want the voices of such activities and actions that cost human lives to be heard. The hunger strikes of political prisoners trapped within four walls of prisons deeply worry us. We must continue the fight until the isolation is lifted."
