Manisa Akhisar T-Type Closed Prison, in a statement it made following allegations of guard torture against remand prisoner Volkan Ayvazlı on 7 February 2025, claimed that "officials rendered the convict ineffective within the framework of their legal authority." The statement, in which the prison claimed there was no torture or mistreatment in the incident, stated that camera footage had been delivered in full to the Akhisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and that following the examination conducted, a decision of "no grounds for prosecution" had been issued regarding the officials. The statement noted that disciplinary penalties had been applied in connection with the incident and claimed that the judicial investigation was continuing.

 

Following the statement made by the prison, Yeni Yaşam Newspaper shared new footage of the incident. In the footage, other prisoners can be seen in the prison yard, and guards who entered the yard following a fight that broke out can be seen intervening against Ayvazlı and beating him severely. The footage also shows the official operating the handheld camera subsequently putting down the camera and joining the guards who are beating Ayvazlı.
