ADANA - An investigation was opened against 6 people who were subjected to police violence at the Wan support event in Adana, on the grounds that they "inflicted violence on the police".
Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office wanted to make a statement in support of Wan on April 2, by the Adana Provincial Organization of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), but they were subjected with police violence. Upon the complaint of the police, an investigation was opened on the allegation of "resisting to avoid doing the duty". Within the scope of the investigation, the prosecutor's office issued detention orders for many people from the Adana Criminal Court of Peace.
3 PEOPLE DETAINED
After the decision, the police detained Mehmet Bayna, Fırat Turgay and an unnamed person by raiding their homes. Ramazan Sancı, Umut Ozşimşek and a person whose name was not known were summoned to the police to testify. Action was taken against 6 people whose statements were taken at Adana Police Department Security Branch for the crime of "resisting to prevent them from doing their duty". After the procedures, 6 people were released from the police.
THEY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE POLICE
Police; for 6 people; asked questions such as: "Did you participate in the protest, did you chant slogans during the protest, who organized the protest, why did you not disperse despite the warnings given by the security guards, did you prevent the security guards from performing their duties by kicking them, hitting them with the flag sticks, punching them and resisting?" 6 people, who stated that they were subjected to violence and that they did not beat anyone or hinder their duties, rejected the accusation made against them. Additionally, 6 people stated that they complained about the police officers who used violence against them.
WHAT HAPPENED
DEM Adana Provincial Organization reacted to the election usurpation in Wan with the press statement they made in Inönü Park on April 2. after the press release, the police blocked the citizens who were returning to the DEM Party Adana Provincial Organization by chanting slogans and beat the citizens. Despite efforts to prevent it, the police fired rubber bullets at the citizens who continued to protest the Wan decision in front of the DEM Party Provincial Organization. Meanwhile, while members of the press were blocked; Civilian and riot police officers beat citizens. During the intervention, DEM Party Adana Provincial Co-Chair Seyfettin Aydemir was injured in his head, while many people were injured in various parts of their bodies and were taken to hospital.
