In the decision, "Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-chair Mr. Abdullah Zeydan is the will of the people of Van, who was elected with a 55 percent majority as a candidate who is eligible to be elected. However, the judiciary usurped the will of the people of Van with a political coup by carrying out an unlawful objection process 2 days before the election, with a political instruction. With the unlawful decision made by the Van Provincial Election Board, it was decided to give the ballot box to the party that came second. We invite all our members, colleagues and the democratic public to protect the will of the people against these unlawful, unfair and usurping practices against the will of the people of Van. We are following the process."
People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) co-chair candidates Abdullah Zeydan and Neslihan Şedal received 55.48 percent of the votes. AKP candidate Arvas received 27.15 percent.
