İZMİR – The objection regarding the house arrest and judicial control decision against 5 journalists and DEM Party press staff was rejected by the court.
An objection was made regarding the decisions about 5 journalists and DEM Party press staff who were detained in Izmir on February 13 and released on house arrest and judicial control measures by the Izmir 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace on February 16.
The 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace gave judicial control measures to Mezopotamya Agency (MA) reporter Semra Turan and Gazete Duvar reporter Cihan Başakçıoğlu, requiring them to go to the police station twice a week and sign their signatures. It was decided to impose house arrest on MA reporters Delal Akyüz, Tolga Güney, Jinnews Reporter Melike Aydın and DEM Party press worker Fatma Funda Akbulut.
The Izmir 7th Criminal Court of First Instance, to which the lawyers objected, found the decisions appropriate and rejected the demands.
THE PROSECUTOR'S OBJECTION WAS ALSO REJECTED
On the other hand, the investigation prosecutor's objection requesting the arrest of the journalists was also rejected by the same court. Since there was a confidentiality order in the file, the lawyers were not informed about why the prosecutor's objection was rejected.
