DİYARBAKIR - Stating that the preperations for the big rally continues, HDP Diyarbakır Provincial Co-chairs said: "The people of Amed will once again respond to the attacks against the Kurds."

 

The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) will hold a large rally on January 22 at Diyarbakir Station Square with the slogan "We are defending the HDP" against the increasing pressure and attacks. The HDP will respond to the detentions, arrests and the closure case against the HDP and the Kobanê Case in which party leaders are on trial, with a rally to demand democratic politics, peace and freedom. HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Saliha Aydeniz and local co-chairs of the party will attend the rally, which will start at 12:00 AM. Koma Pel and artist Ayfer Düztaş will take the stage at the rally. Preparations for the rally continues. Invitations and leaflets to the rally have been distributed in all districts of the city since start of the month. HDP Diyarbakır Provincial Co-chairs Gülistan Atasoy and Zeyat Ceylan spoke about the importance of the rally.

 

HDP RIDES TALL IN ITS SADDLE

 

Provincial Co-chair Zeyat Ceylan said that their party is being attacked by the government and its junior partner. Reminding that thousands of party members were detained and arrested, Ceylan told that HDP rides tall in its saddle despite all attacks. Ceylan said all methods were used to attack their party and added: "The attacks started when the Dolmabahçe Agreement was exposed and frustrated. With the attacks, the honourable resistance of the people have also started." Noting that if any other party was subjected to the pressure applied on the HDP they wouldn't be able to hold it together, Ceylan said: "HDP rides tall in its saddle despite all these attacks. They have filed a law suit against the leaders of the party, which is known as the Kobané Case. Now they are trying to close the party. Because they can not compete with us politically. HDP is not a party that consists of a signboard alone. HDP is the people themselves."

 

CALL FOR THE RALLY

 

Underlining that AKP and MHP considers HDP a threat against their survival, Ceylan called on for participation in the rally and asked the people to defend their party. Ceylan said: "Diyarbakır is the heart of Kurdistan. We have to shout out loud from Diyarbakır."

 

'THE PEOPLE WILL RESPOND TO ATTACKS'

 

Co-chair Gülistan Atasoy said that the attacks against their party will not give results. Pointing out to the political history of their party, Atasoy said: "Our parties were closed before. It did not give any results. We established a new one right after their closures. These attempts did not bring democracy to this country nor solved the Kurdish question. The Kurdish people have always known how to respond to the closure of their parties. The people responded to these kinds of attacks both in the elections and on the streets. It will respond to these attacks the same way today. Those who close parties were forgotten unlike Kurdish parties. And this is what will happen to the AKP and MHP."

 

GLORIOUS MEETING

 

Pointing out that Kurds are political people which causes the people to own up the party, Atasoy said: "This is why this rally will be historic. The people will show their commitment to the party in Station Square. Our expactations from our people is great. We will respond to this tyranny together just like we did through out history. The people of Amed is ready to host this glorious rally."
