MARDİN - The anonymous witness in the case against Garibe Gezer who was, as a result, sentenced to aggravated life in prison, can not be found for the last 5 years.
Garibe Gezer, who lost her life in the cell where she was held alone after the systematic torture and sexual violence she suffered in Kandıra No. 1 F Type Closed Prison, was sentenced to "aggravated life imprisonment" in the case where she was tried together with the then Dargeçit Municipality Co-Mayor Zeynep Sipçik and 6 other people. While the case against Gezer and Sipçik, who were the district directors of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) during the curfews in Dargeçit in 2015, and 6 other people, was heard at the Midyat High Criminal Court, after a while, it was brought before the Van 2nd High Criminal Court due to "security concerns" . As a result of the trial held in Van, Gezer was sentenced to "aggravated life imprisonment" and 22 years in prison.
STATEMENTS OF AN 'ANONYMOUS WITNESS'
While a large part of the file about Gezer and her friends was created with the statements of an "anonymous witnesses" with the code name "Burhan", it was claimed that the person in question told that Gezer was responsible for organizing women as guerillas. However, the open witnesses told that Gezer had nothing to do with it, she was just an executive of the DBP and that she lost her brother Bilal Gezer during Kobané protests. The other two defendants also told the same thing.
'THE ANONYMOUS WITNESS '
However, while the court sentenced Gezer as a result of the "anonymous witness" statements, the anonymous witness Burhan in question was never been able to be reached after the Court of Appeal. The court didn't listen to 'Burhan' since 2016 in the local courts, was not heard after reversal of the decision by the Court of Appeal. The demands of the Van 2nd High Criminal Court to hear Burhan as a witness were not answered by the police. While Gezer was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment due to the statements of Burhan, and his statements were the basis of the case file, Burhan was never heard as a witness in the court.
