URFA - Stating that the problems in Turkey is related to the isolation in İmralı, Peace Mothers said: "Kurds must unite against the silence of the international powers."

Forced to leave Syria on October 9, 1998 by an international conspiracy and handed over to Turkey on February 15, 1999, PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been kept in isolation in Imrali High Security Type F Prison for 22 years. Öcalan, who has been prevented from being visited by his family and lawyers, has not been heard from since March 25, 2020. Members of the Peace Mothers Initiative called for immediate contact with Öcalan and for the isolation on Öcalan to come to an end.

Stating that the isolation imposed on Öcalan is stemmed from the fear of his ideas, Urfa Peace Mother Emine Yaşar told that Öcalan proved to have been right and it was revealed day after day. Underlining that his voice was prevented from reaching out to the people outside because he is right, Yaşar said: "This isolation is not imposed on Öcalan alone. It is imposed on all of us. We are in constant fear. Öcalan is held under aggravated isolation as well as our souls. We will have peace when this isolation is over and we will be free."

'THEY ARE AFRAID OF HIS IDEAS'

Peace Mother Garip Yeşil who told that people feared from Öcalan's ideas and ideology and he was held under isolation because of it, added, "As the Peace Mothers we do not accept this isolation and we will break this isolation no matter what. International powers are benefitting from the ongoing war and isolation. All Kurds must unite in the face of this silence. I am calling on to all mothers in four parts of Kurdistan. The weight of this stuggle is on our shoulders. The isolation will not end unless we fight for it. We will step up this struggle and we will win."

WHAT THE ISOLATION ON ÖCALAN CAUSES

Peace Mother Hadle Oğur said: "The problems in Turkey stems from the isolation on Öcalan. The economic crisis stems from the ongoing war. And the ongoing war stems from the isolation on Öcalan. The war would be over if Öcalan would not be under isolation."
