URFA - 74-year-old cancer patient Veysi Demir died before being able to visit his son in prison. Demir was not able to visit his son for the last 15 years due to his health issues.
74-year-old Veysi Demir, who lives in the Suruç district of Urfa, passed away without seeing her son Feridun Demir, who had been imprisoned for 28 years. Demir was not able to go visit his son in prison for the last 15 years because of his illness. Demir, who lost his life in his home where he was treated for cancer, was buried in the rural neighborhood of Marusî (Dinlece).
'I DON'T BELIEVE THERE IS JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY'
Demir's son, Feridun Demir, was arrested in Adana in 1993. He was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment on charges of 'being a member of a terrorist organisation. Demir is still being held in Antalya L Type Closed Prison. Speaking to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) on April 16, father Veysi Demir stated that there is no justice and said, "I do not believe there is justice. Enough is enough, they must let my son go."
It was learned that the family had not been able to see Feridun Demir for 15 years. It was stated that Demir's application, who wanted to attend his father's funeral is still under evaluation. Son could not make it to his father's funeral.
