ŞIRNAK - Silopi Peace Mothers Council members condemned the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the cross-border operations of Turkey, said the war can only be stopped in İmralı.
The hunger strike launched in prison against the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the increased violations of rights in prison, continues on its 265th day. Even though the rotating hunger strike continues for over 9 months, neither a meeting with Öcalan has been held nor the violations of rights in prisons have come to an end. Öcalan who was able to use his right to a phonecall with his family for the first time on April 27, 2020 during his 22 years in prison, was able to speak to his family on the phone for the second time on March 25. But the phone call was cut. Öcalan stressed that this phone call was not legal and that he wants to see his attorneys. However, all the applications made by the Asrın Law Office were either rejected or left unanswered.
EMPHASIS ON UNITY
Protesting the aggravated isolation on Öcalan, Silopi Peace Mothers Assembly said talks must be held as soon as possible. Stating that with the deepening isolation Turkey spiraled into a crisis, Peace Mother Reyhan Aksoy said: "I have come to this age and haven't seen anything except blood, tears and death so far. We want this bloodshed to stop. We want unity among Kurds. It is only possible if the isolation is lifted. If we want a permanent peace, we have to break this isolation. We want a a common life like brothers and sisters. Our children, our brothers and sisters, our neighbors are dying on a daily basis. This can only end with the lifting of the isolation."
CHAOTIC ENVIRONMENT
One of the Peace Mothers Behiye Nayır underlined that the Kurds can remove the isolation on Öcalan with unity, and said: "Kurds my unite in all areas of life. Kurdish children are being murdered on the streets. This intolerance against the Kurds can disappear with our unity. We are pursuing the cause of peace. We also call out to Barzani from here; No more games. This state is bombing our mountains, burning our nature, leaving us breathless. This chaos will continue as long as the isolation does."
THE KEY TO PEACE
One of the mothers, Emine Alkış who underlined that the key to peace is in İmralı, said: "We, the mothers, want peace. We did not raise these children for them to slaughter. We say that Öcalan is the only person that can prevent this war. Barzani should stop being a partner in this oppression. Everyone knows that the key to peace is in Öcalan's hands."
