DİYARBAKIR - Representatives of Alevi organizations, who stated that they will stand side by side with the HDP, which is under the pressure of the government, said, “We have to adopt a stance like Pir Sultan. HDP is the people. As Alevis, we will stand by HDP with all our components.”
The Constitutional Court accepted the indictment prepared to ban the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), which it returned the first time. The law suit to ban the HDP was critisized by political parties and non-governmental organizations. Protesting the law suit, Alevi organizations underlined that the HDP is the party of the underdog and told that they will be in solidarity with the HDP.
IT'S A SHAME
Equal President of the Confederation of European Alevi Unions (AABF), Nevin Kamilağaoğlu, stated that they have been following the dirty games played on the HDP for a long time, underlined that the reason of this attitude is that the HDP has a key role in the elections. Noting that the HDP is the most colorful and pluralistic party in the history of Turkey, Kamilağaoğlu said, "It was not surprising that the Constitutional Court accepted the indictment to ban the HDP. The Constitutional Court's acceptance of the indictment was embarrassing for democracy. The people who vote for HDP are ignored, which is completely unacceptable. Although the European Alevi Movement is a faith community, we also take a political stance on this situation. We showed our reactions in Europe against the arrest of HDP co-chairs and MPs. We are taking this situation to the Council of Europe. We continue to take the unlawfulness and this hostage situation seriously.
'WE WILL DO WHATEVER NECESSARY'
Expressing that the government continues its war on the Kurds with the HDP, Kamilağaoğlu stated that if the Kurds are suppressed, Alevis will be next. Kamilağaoğlu said, “While there is a state organization based on Islam, this will be a disturbing situation for Alevis who have a different belief. Alevis vote for two different parties in the elections, one of them is CHP and the other is HDP. Alevis stand up with whichever of these political parties is victimized in the elections. The HDP should not have any reservations about Alevis. Alevis will stand against this injustice until the end. Alevis will do whatever is necessary, both in Turkey and in Europe."
'WE STAND BY THE HDP'
Underlining that banning the HDP will be a huge blow on the democracy of Turkey, Democratic Alevi Associations (DAD) Co-Chair Musa Kulu stated that the AKP government has dragged Turkey into a great chaos with the Turkish-Islamic synthesis for 20 years and pointed out that the attacks against HDP are connected with the policies of denial and destruction policies against the Kurds. Kulu said: "HDP is a party that tries to be the voice of the oppressed and the working people, it is the party that holds all the beliefs in Turkey together and considers them brothers and sisters. As Alevis, we have a responsibility to be on the side of those who seek rights and justice and those who are oppressed. I would like to state that we have never accepted this situation and will not take a step back. Not one single Alevi will remain silent against this."
