ANKARA - Stating that the attack carried out against HDP's İzmir Provincial Building was carried out exactly at the time of the meeting planned and later cancelled, HDP Co-chair Mithat Sancar said: "This was a planned massacre. We know these plans from way back."
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Mithat Sancar made a statement at the Headquarters regarding the attack on his party's İzmir Provincial Organization building and the death of party employee Deniz Poyraz.
Condemning the attack harshly, Sancar said: "A vile attack was carried out against our İzmir Provincial Organization building and our sister and comrade Deniz Poyraz was murdered. This was a despicable attack and a blatant murder. Let me tell you first that this was not a plan to kill one random person. We had a meeting planned that would be attended by 40 of our administrators at the exact time of the attack. This pre-planned meeting was postponed due to urgent reasons. They were planning a massacre. We knot hese plans from way back. One of our friends who managed to get into the building saw that the firing was not random. He was planning to shoot everyone in sight. This massacre is also a provocation. A very dangerous provocation. Everyone must see this."
THIS WAS AN ATTEMPTED MASSACRE, NOT MURDER
Sancar continued, "We are in so much pain. Deniz was too young. She was helping with our work in İzmir Provincial Organization because her mother was too sick. She was born in Mardin, Ömerli. She was there at the time alone, as a result of a very bitter coincidence. If we hadn't postponed the meeting to be held with 40 party administrators, this would have been a massacre. But thinking about numbers in such tragedies is wrong. The killing of Deniz Poyraz is an atrocity, not merely a murder. It is a flagrant attack on all of us. Dear Deniz. We promise we will continue your honourable and beautiful struggle. We will build the peaceful and honourable future you had dreamed of. We promise you!"
THOUSAND WILL BE COMING
"We are currently being asked for information about our work. My esteemed Co-Chair, Pervin Buldan, set off from Istanbul to Izmir, our deputies, VQA and PM members are meeting in Izmir. We have created a Crisis Coordination Center here. We evaluate all incoming information here. The funeral ceremony will be held tomorrow. I wil be coming to İzmir to participate in the ceremony. The last word will be said by not us, but by the mother of Deniz. I'll convey her message to you know: "You have killed my daughter, but thousands will be coming!"
