The search of the sixth sector of the Hol refugee and internment camp in northeastern Syria began in the morning hours. Following a series of killings by the ISIS, several thousand members of the Autonomous Administration Security Forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the People’s-Women’s Defense Units (YPG-YPJ) are searching the huge camp section by section in a joint operation. On Wednesday, the search of the first five of eight sectors of the camp was completed.

 

ISIS FINANCIAL OFFICER ARRESTED

 

Among others, a high-ranking ISIS commander was arrested. The commander is Algerian Mohammed Abdel Rahman Sharif Dabbah.

 

Dabbah fought in ISIS as a commander in Shaddadi and Raqqa, lost both eyes and was subsequently taken to the Hol Camp. Born in 1989, the jihadist was transferred from his position of a military commander to the post of a commander in the ISIS financial sector after his injury. He was responsible for managing collected "donations."

 

DOZENS OF ISIS MEMBERS ARRESTED DURING THE OPERATION

 

There are well-established ISIS structures in Hol Camp. This is partly due to the fact that the camp, with its 62,000 residents, houses tens of thousands of family members of ISIS jihadists. These individuals come from 52 different nations. Their home countries have made little to no effort to repatriate them. As a result, the Hol Camp has become the "secret capital of ISIS". The operation is intended to protect children in the camp from ISIS in particular.
