URFA - Thousands of people who gathered to celebrate the Newroz, responded to the isolation in İmralı, hunger strikes in prisons and the pressure on HDP. HDP's Ömer Öcalan pointed at İmralı for the solution of problems in Turkey.
Thousands of people gathered in the area next to the April 11 Stadium in Urfa to celebrate Newroz. Wearing green, yellow and red local clothes, the women protested Turkey's withdrawal from the İstanbul Convention and shouted the slogan “Jin jiyan azadî”.
The people of Urfa gave a message with their slogans. People shouted the slogan “Bijî Serok Apo” for the imprisoned PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan who is being held in İmralı Island for 22 years, as well as other slogans like “Bijî berxwedana zindana” and "HDP is the people, the people are here"
The Newroz program, which was attended by HDP Urfa MPs Ayşe Sürücü and Ömer Öcalan, as well as Azadi Party Chairperson Ayetullah Aşitî, began with a minute's silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and democracy.

When HDP's Ömer Öcalan appeared on the stage, the youth shouted "Greetings, greetings, greetings to İmralı".
HDP'S ÖCALAN: WE ARE NOT AFRAID
Celebrating the people's Newroz, Öcalan who pointed out to İmralı for the solution of problems in Turkey, said: "We are not afraid of the party being closed. We are afraid of harm to our people. The Kurdish people are not lambs to be sacrificed for their masters. We are the most ancient peoples of this geography. Those who try to frustrate us should read some history and look back."
Underlining the importance of Kurdish language, Öcalan pointed at İmralı for the solution of the problems in Turkey and expressed solidarity with the hunger strikers. Öcalan said: "We will rise together and succeed together."
During the celebration, 7 people, 4 children and 2 women, were detained.
