ANKARA - Afrin Canton Council protested Turkey's attack on Northern and Eastern Syria and called on the UN to take action.

Members of Afrin Canton Council presented a statement in Mitan square in Shahba canton`s Ahdas district.

The statement was read in Kurdish by council member Leyla Haftaro and in Arabic by council member Arin Ali.

The statement read: “The Turkish state is carrying out demographic change in Afrin. They forcibly confiscate the homes and properties of the civilians or even force the Afrin people to sell their properties and force them out of Afrin.”

The statement pointed out that the Turkish occupation are using the refugees as commodities in trade with Europe: “They use lies in pretending to protect and take care of the refugees and using them to make trade deals with European countries.”

The statement concluded by calling on the international community to stop the crimes of the occupation and added: “We call on the international community, especially the United Nations to pressure the Turkish state into stopping their massacre of the Kurdish people and for them to pull their army and mecenaries out of Afrin. Erdogan must be tried as a war murderer, and the people of Afrin should return to their land and homes.”
