UN calls for investigation into Zakho attack

NEWS CENTER - The United Nations condemned Turkey's massacre in Zakho and called for a "quick and comprehensive investigation".

The United Nations (UN) shared a message condemning Turkey's bombing of the picnic area in the village of Perex in Zakho on July 20, killing 9 people, including 2 children.

The Secretary General of the UN said in a statement: "The Secretary General condemned the deadly artillery fire that killed 8 civilians and injured 23 in the Zakho district of Duhok Governorate of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region yesterday."

The statement called for a "quick and comprehensive investigation".

THE EU ALSO CONDEMNED THE ATTACK

In the statement made by Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) Foreign Relations and Security Policy, it was said: " The EU stands in solidarity with the Iraqi people. The targeting civilians constituted means a 'violation of international law', so an active investigation should be started."
