BATMAN -  The 900-year-old Little Palace in Hasankeyf, which was flooded due to Ilısu Dam, was buried in water due to leakage.

 

Historical areas that were flooded due to the Ilısu Dam, have been covered with concrede. While dozens of caves were covered with concrete, the castle walls have also been covered with rock pieces from Raman Mountain. Despite the alleged measures taken for coronavirus, the 900-year-old Little Palace, which was under protection, was buried under water as a result of the leakage.

 

The Small Palace, which has a history of about 900 years belonging to the Ayyubid period, was flooded, and upon the notification of the situation to the Ministry of Culture, an investigation was started in the palace and its surroundings. According to the information obtained, it was stated that the water leaked from the parts buried in the concrete.

 

While it's estimated that the water leaking into the Little Palace might have leaked from the Şap Valley, it was noted that this area was filled with rock fragments brought on the skirts of Mount Raman and collapses occurred here.

 

We checked for water leaks in the Small Palace and Saha Valley on site. While water leakage is visible, officials' water evacuation process continues around the palace. While it was stated that the Ministry officials had made examinations, no information was found on whether the palace had been damaged or not. 

 

While the structure of the rocks is among the causes of water leakage in the dam, it is stated that there may be greater dangers in the case of lime stones being used for packing material.
