Imprisoned journalist Oruç is not given clothes, books and letters

DİYARBAKIR - Imprisoned journalist Aziz Oruç held in Patnos L-Type Prison stated that since the day he was arrested, he has not been given books and clothes. He also told that not just him, but all the other prisoners have not been given the letters written to them.

 
Journalist Aziz Oruç, who was arrested after he was taken into custody Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı on December 11, 2019 and transferred to Patnos L Type Prison, reported the violations of his rights to his family which he has seen in an open interview in prison on February 5. Oruç, who sent greetings to professional organizations and friends who has shown  solidarity and sensitivity to his case, called for the same sensitivity and support be maintained. Oruç stated that he is in good health and he is in a good mood.
 
'LETTERS ARE NOT GIVEN'
 
Noting that the letters sent to the prison were not given to any prisoner, including him, Oruç explained that the letters they sent were sometimes confiscated just because of a single word. Oruç reported, “There is no letter I have received up to date. Probably, the letters I sent are not delivered as well. Especially since I am a journalist, they try disconnect me from the outside world. I have not been given books and clothes since the day I was arrested."
 
HEALTH PROBLEM
 
Oruç, who said that as in other prisons, an itch problem has appeared on all the prisoners of Patnos Prison recently, said that this problematic situation continues despite the prisoners try to care the hygiene conditions. Pointing out that the situation in question has nothing to do with the current conditions, Oruç stated that either the water they use or something they do not know may cause this problem.
 
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
 
Oruç, who has been living in the Iraqi Federated Kurdistan Region for about 3 years due to the lawsuits filed against him, was detained at the Armenia border, where he was passing through Iran to go to Europe. Oruç, who was subjected to the violence of the Armenian police while in custody, was later handed over to Iranian soldiers. Tortured in Iran for two days, journalist Oruç was thrown bare feet and overhead over the wires to the Turkey side of the border in the night of December 10.
