ANKARA - A campaign to demand freedom for Veli Encu was launched by relatives and friends.
Veli Encu lost a brother and numerous relatives in the Roboski massacre of 28 December 2011 when Turkish warplanes bombed a group of cross border traders, killing 34 of them.
Veli Encu was arrested on 24 May with the allegation of "making propaganda for an illigal organization".
A petition was launched on "www.change.org" called “The families of Roboski called for Veli Encu to be immediately released”.
The campaign reminded that Encu is the brother of former HDP Sirnak MP former Ferhat Encu, who he himself is in prison.
Encu, like his brother and the families of Roboski have been involved in the campaign demanding truth and justice for the victims of the massacre.
The campaign called on people to sign the petition demanding the release of Veli Encu.
