Journalists Kibriye Evren and Evin Kaya (24) who have been continuing their hunger strikes for 162 days in Diyarbakır Type E Prison demanding the removal of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, have ended their hunger strike on May 26 when Öcalan sent a message from İmralı.Evren and Kaya who was on hunger strike for 162 days, was transferred to Gazi Yaşargil Education and Reseach Hospital. Families of Evren and Kaya who are being treated there, applied to Diyarbakır Chief Prosecutor's Office yesterday to visit their daughters. The families whose application was accepted, visited Evren and Kaya.

Father Kaya who emphasized that her daughter is being treated in handcuffs, said: "My daughter is in prison since October. Its been 8 months. She has been on hunger strike for 6 month. Her trials are continuing. Her case is not finalized. Now, if we claim there is law in this country, there shouldn't be handcuffs on her wrists while being treated. The government doesn't apply their own laws. This was our main objection from the start. If they had been applying their laws there wouldn't be a need for the hunger strikes. We would not be speaking about isolation today."

Father Kaya relayed the message of her daughter: "We have succeeded in this resistance. We faced many difficulties and we will face more of them from now on, but no matter what, those who resisted have won. Everyone must go into the process of struggle wholeheartedly from now on and claim it."
