From 'zero tolerance to torture', to torture in police station

NEWS DESK - Reaction came from humans' right organizations and barsto the torture to 38 people including children in Halfeti. İHD Co-chair Eren Keskin shared the photograph of the torture with a note, saying 'Once upon a time, there were some people sayng 'zero tolerance to torture', right?'

In an armed clash in Urfa, Halfeti, a special operations deputy inspector lost his life while 2 police officers were injured on May 18.After the incident where 2 people claimed to be HPG members were killed, many people were taken under custody in scope of the operations carried our in Halfeti and Bozova. The information that the people taken under custody was maltreated and tortured, that has been reflected since the first day of detention has been clarified.
 
 
Urfa Bar Association Human Rights Center's twitter posts revealed that the detainees exposed to torture and ill-treatment.
 
At least 38 people, including children, were in custody and there were signs of torture. Following twitter shares were seen about the people layed on the ground with their hands cuffed behind their backs in the yard of the  Bozova Yaylak Gendarmerie Command.
 
“It's a criminal complaint! Torture is strictly prohibited under national and international legislation. We are receiving reports that 12 people were detained in Halfeti district. @TC_icisleri @adalet_bakanlik @UrfaValiligi
Approximately 35 people are currently in custody together with those taken under custody later. Lawyers' interviews with their clients were unlawfully restricted. Although a lawyer has more than one client, he is only allowed to meet with one and for very limited time.
 
Some suspects are interviewed by lawyers under police supervision.
 
There are concrete indications of torture.

At least 38 people are presumed to be in violation of the presumption of innocence, including children.
 
The photo of the Human Rights Center of the Urfa Bar Association, which was shared with these statements as evidence of torture, led to the reaction of human rights organizations and some bar associations.

Zülküf Uçar, President of Van Bar Association, also shared the information he quoted: "The rule of universal law which all segments of the society know by heart; ECHR http://3.md. "No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Today, those who abuse state facilities should know; there is no statute of limitation in the torture!"
