The city that walks from darkness to light : Rakka

RAKKA- Rakka that were plunged into darkness with ISIS's occupation , was liberated by YPJ last year.The city where the administration was transferred to civil council, a new life has been building up with the work done on health, education, security etc.
 
ISIS had occupied many cities in north and east Syria, starting from Rakka they occupied in June 2014. ISIS who headed for Kobané, sustained their first defeat in there.
 
There is not much time left untill the first year anniversary of Rakka's salvation from ISIS.
 
The  declaration of the liberation of the city was made by Women's Defence Units (YPJ).YPJ making a statement from the main square of the city, El Neim which is known for the executions and deaths that took place in there on October 19, 2017, had announce the victory of light against darkness.
 
CITY ADMINISTRATION
 
The administration of the liberated city was transferred to civil council in a very short time. There are Arab, Kurdish, Armanian, Turkmenian and Assyrian members of the council that consisted of 60 people when it was founded but has approximately 200 members now. And Arab and a Kurdish delegates were chosen to co-chair the council. Council has many agencies in many cities and communes are formed city-wide.  A great deal of international commitees expected on the occasion of the anniversary of the cities liberation.
  
DAILY LIFE
 
The city is in the process of preparations for the anniversary. While the destruction ISIS left behind is being repaired on a daily basis, the return of the people have accelerated. The houses that were locked due to the migration are showing signs of life now. Markets are getting more and more crowded.
 
ADRESS OF THE INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES: RAKKA MUNICIPALITY
 
Beside the Council, Rakka People's Municipality is another important centers of the city. The building which was used as a dungeon and a torture placeby ISIS is now open to public and being renewed by the municipality.
The historical artifects and the building are also being renewed.
 
SECURİTY
 
While the border security of the city is provided by QSD, the security of the city is provided by  Hêzên Parastina Civakî (HPC) and Hêzên Parasitan Jin (HPJ) which are under Rakka Internal Security Forces. Traffic police are working on boulvards and streets  and at nights they tighten the security measures.
 
EDUCATION 
 
While ISIS was in the city, all the schools were used as military bases. With the liberation of the city ,children are going back to school. 60 new schools were built city-wide. Children are being thaught in their mother tongues.
 
HEALTH
 
Health care providers are back in the city. While 10 new hospitals open, a lot of infirmaries were set up. Besides the doctors from Rakka, doctors from Heyva Sor are working as health providers.
