No news from Abdullah Öcalan

ISTANBUL - Stating that the lack of news from İmralı deepened their concerns and concerns, MATUHAY-DER Co-Chair Mehmet Şafi Ero said: "We want to meet with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan."

There has been no news for 28 months from Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş, who have been in the same prison as PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under heavy isolation conditions in İmralı Type F High Security Prison for 24 years. Evaluating the reflections of the Imrali isolation, Marmara Association for Solidarity with the Families of Prisoners and Convicts (MATUHAY-DER) Co-Chair Mehmet Şafi Erol stated that the concerns about Abdullah Öcalan are growing and that talks should be held as soon as possible.

Stating that the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan is “enemy law”, Erol said: "The reason for the deepening of the isolation is the fear that Abdullah Öcalan's ideas will come to life in the Middle East. Everyone should take action against the isolation, which he considers as a violation of human rights. The isolation that started in Imrali is reflected in all prisons. The isolation is also a human rights issue, so we called for social sensitivity."

Pointing out that the isolation has repercussions in other prisons, Erol said: “Executions of prisoners are burned for ordinary reasons. Rights to books, communication, social activities and letters are blocked. The state must obey the law."

NO NEWS FROM ÖCALAN

Stating that Turkey has acted in violation of international conventions, Erol said: "The lack of news in Imrali deepened concerns and concerns. Not getting news for 28 months is a big issue; therefore, lawyers and families should be contacted as soon as possible. No one has any information about Mr. Öcalan's health status."

THE INSOLUTION OF THE KURDISH QUESTION

Expressing that Abdullah Öcalan's solution power is being undermined, Erol said: "The isolation is related to the Kurdish problem. The root cause of the economic and political crises is the policies of deadlock in the Kurdish issue. There is a war in the Middle East. There is a new formation and the Kurds are mostly wanted to be made into bargains with this war. They do not want to solve the Kurdish question If the Kurdish issue is resolved, there will be no war in the Middle East. The Kurdish issue has officially become a market for capital owners."

Stating that the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) did not fulfill its responsibility, Erol emphasized that international conventions should be followed.

'ISOLATION IS THE ISSUE OF EVERYONE'

Stating that the isolation affects the society as a whole, Erol said: “Isolation is the issue of everyone who says 'I am human'. We would like to meet with Mr. Öcalan. The Minister of Justice must fulfill his responsibilities. The opposition should also take responsibility in this regard."
