MARDİN - A.D., who deposited money to his friend Mehmet İldem, who was held in Burhaniye T Type T Closed Prison. A lawsuit was filed against a citizen named "knowingly and willingly aiding the organization".

 

Sending money to his friend Mehmet İldem, who is being held in Burhaniye Type T Closed Prison in Balıkesir, A.D. Citizen named was taken into custody during a raid on his house on February 15, 2021. After being detained for 4 days, A.D. was released on a "judicial control condition". An indictment was prepared by the Balıkesir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Within the scope of the investigation initiated against him. A.D., with the allegation of "knowingly and willingly aiding the organization" within the scope of the indictment accepted at the Balıkesir 1st High Criminal Court, in the lawsuit filed with a demand for imprisonment from 1 to 3 years, it was stated that A.D., sent 500 liras to İldem in September 2019.

 

HUNGER STRIKE WAS FOR THE REASON

 

In the indictment, which argues that A.D. has no kinship with İldem, who is the son of his wife's aunt, Ildem's stay in "partisan wards" where PKK prisoners are held was given as the reason. Ildem's petition and participation in the hunger strike they carried out in prisons between November 27, 2018 and May 26, 2019, "demanding the immediate and complete end of the isolation of Kurdish people's leader, Abdullah Öcalan," were also included in the indictment.

 

PROSECUTOR: PRISON HAS THE STRONGEST ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

 

In the 7-page indictment, 4 pages are devoted to the heading "PKK Prison Organization", while "The prison structure of the organization has a stronger organizational history than other structures. Especially in the 1980s, the imprisonment of important names from the first and second generation cadres of the organization (such as Kemal Pir/Mazlum Doğan, M. Hayri Durmuş) allowed the organizational subculture in this field to have a strong ground. The indictment also included a "secret witness" statement about the "PKK Prison Organization"; however, it was noteworthy that there was neither an open nor a closed name about the witness.

 

The prosecutor's office claimed that A.D. had sent money to Ildem, who was in prison in line with the decisions taken by the organization, and demanded that he be punished for "knowingly and willingly aiding the organization".
