ŞIRNEX - Speaking about Binevş Agal, who was remembered for her struggle in Cizîr, her brother Xanê Agal said: "Binevş never strayed from her roots. As an Yazidi woman, she grew up with Kurdish culture and lived with free will with the power she received from the revolution."

Binevş Agal was a woman inspired by the struggle of Kurds and Yazidis, especially women, with a gun in her hand, a pushi on her head and a proud stance. Although years have passed since her death, her name is still on the lips of women. Binevş Agal (Bêrîvan) was born in 1966 in a village where Yazidis live in the Beşeri district of Êlih. Binevş took its name from the Kurdish epic called "Cembeliyê Mirê Hekkarî û Binevşa Narin". Binevş's family, like many Yazidi families, immigrated to Europe due to the increasing pressures after the September 12, 1980 coup. Binevş Agal, who took the name Bêrîvan after joining the Kurdish freedom struggle, first came to Northern and Eastern Syria, and then to the Cizîr district of Şirnex.

Bêrîvan, who was recognized by the Kurds, especially the women of Cizîr in a short time, lost her life in an attack on a house on January 16, 1989. After this date, the name of Bêrîvan circulated as a legend. Her sister Xane Agal told about Bêrîvan, which was engraved in the memory of the people with her resistance.

'BERİVAN GREW UP IN KURDISH CULTURE'

Pointing out that Bêrîvan was growing on her roots, Agal's sister, Xanê Agal said: "Bêrîvan was a quiet but sensitive person in her childhood because of these features, my parents loved her very much. We were very fond of her as her siblings. Bêrîvan was a hard worker. We all loved her very much. She met between 1989 and 1993. After meeting the Kurdish freedom struggle, she did not recognize or accept any disabled person. She was a very natural person. As a young man, the European life did not interest her. This life of her was noticed by her German teacher. First of all, a German teacher said: "Binevş is a very different person. She is different from all his friends. She made her first action in primary school. She gathered a group of friends and organized an event in Kurdistani clothes. Everyone was amazed and happy with her initiative. Binevş never strayed from her roots either. As a Yazidi woman, she grew up in Kurdish culture. She became a free will with the power she got from the revolution and created a free identity."

'YAZIDI WOMEN ARE IMPRESSED BY HER'

Noting that her brother had a great influence on Yazidi women, Agal said: “Bêrîvan led Yazidi women to seek the truth. There is a cultural resistance in the struggle of Bêrîvan. Bêrîvan's resistance has been a bridge between Kurds. Bêrîvan's struggle means freedom for every Kurdish person. Berivan's struggle in Europe has left many historical traces for the new generation and young Yazidi, especially Yazidi women. Knowing your own culture and 'xwebûn' became the philosophy. It has been an example in this regard. She gave strength, morale and courage to everyone. Of course, this is at the level of the goddess.”

'BÊRIVAN IS IMMORTAL'

Drawing attention to the fact that a women's revolution is taking place all over the world thanks to the struggle of the Bêrîvans, Xanê Agal continued: "It is possible to see the resistance of the Bêrîvans passing through the Botan border, and the struggle of women in general. It can be said that the renaissance of the century of women's philosophy in Kurdistan and the whole world was won by the women's struggle. The classical status established by the dominant male consciousness on women was destroyed by the struggle and will of women. The struggle for a free, moral and free society still continues. It is made by women's hands. The whole world and all humanity needed this struggle. That's why warriors and pioneers like Bêrivan are immortal and still among us.”
